Save the date: 8 June 2013
Last year, the friends of Beanies 4 Teenies (that’s you!) made 320 baby beanies, which were distributed to the Mowbray Maternity Hospital, Red Cross Children’s Hospital and Tygerberg Hospital. Winter is just around the corner and you can bet they need our help once again.
You do not need to know how to sew or knit to be able to participate – if you can use a pair of scissors or make a cup of tea, then you can make a difference! Have a peek into last year’s event: we had over 50 participants, 30m of polar fleece, 8 sewing machines, 88 cupcakes… you get the idea!
This year’s B4T event will be taking place on 8 June from 13h00 to 17h00 in Cape Town, venue TBC. We’ll let you know the event details in due course via email and the Facebook event page.
Here’s how you can help in the meantime
- You can knit or sew your beanies ahead of the event, see the end of this mail for instructions.
- Help spread the word by inviting your friends via the Facebook event.
- Volunteer to assist with the planning of the event, or on-the-day co-ordination.
- More sewing machines are always needed, so be sure to ask around!
This year B4T goes travelling
If you do not live in Cape Town or are unable to join us on the 8th, you can host your own satellite event before 18 June. All you need is two or more friends, a sewing machine and some polar fleece. We’ll provide step-by-step instructions and some tips to make your event extra special. Reply to this email if you have any questions or would like to register your group.
If you would like to suggest a charity to receive beanies, have ideas for the event, or any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us: [email protected]
See you soon,
Courtney
