Hello, my name is Gina Ross I am the founder of Natural Yarns, a South African online store which stocks a wide range of local and international natural fibre yarns, as well as fibre craft tools.
Whether you’re a knitter, a crocheter, a spinner, felter or weaver, you will find a wide variety of supplies for your fibrecraft needs at Natural Yarns.
Let me tell you a little bit about the yarn ranges:
I stock international yarn brands which include Manos del Uruguay, Eden Cottage, Rowan and the natural fibre yarns from Katia.
I am very proud to stock South African brands of hand dyed yarns. We stock a full range of Nurturing Fibres which includes a range of wool at various weights: lace, sock and doubleknit. There is a gorgeous kid silk yarn which is brand knew. Nurturing fibres Eco Range which includes Eco-Cotton Eco-Bamboo and Eco-Fusion, a 50/50 cotton/bamboo blend.
Most knitters and crocheters in South Africa will know all will have worked with Vinni’s Colours. Vinni’s range includes Nikkim which is a pure cotton, Serina which is bamboo, and Tori is a chunky weight cotton/bamboo yarn.
Karoo Moon dyes yarn in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. We have their Marino sock yarn, a handspun chunky merino yarn and a sock weight singles called moonlight. We also have kits which are all available on the online store.
Adele ‘s mohair has a range of various mohair and merino yarns. We stock her brushed mohair which goes beautifully combined with her Magic Balls…Her DK Merino yarns come in a variety of vivid, almost solid colours.
In our alpaca range, we stock natural cria from Mukuti stud alpacas, and alpaca blended yarns from Quenti alpacas.
**Linda’s treehouse yarns are hand selected on my visits to her treehouse-like home. She hand dyes a range of bold coloured, variegated and semisolid colours on various yarn bases.
In addition to the brands that I stock, I also have my own hand dyed range called Stellar Fibreworks. This includes areas yarn bases as well as fibre for hand spinning.** (this bit got left out, but here it is in text!)
I also have a range of tools including swifts for holding yarn skeins for winding, Turkish drop spindles, learn to spin kits with instructions that I have compiled for beginner Spinners, and I also have weaving peg and frame looms.
Are needle, hook and notions brands are Addi, Elle, Knitpro and we import a range of Chiaogoo knitting needles, hooks and other goodies.
Some of the other items at natural yarns include project bags from South African fabric designers, ceramic buttons made in South Africa, shawl pins, blocking equipment, laundry soap, yarn bowls, various kits, and our local creative hobbies magazine.
